Collector's Guide to Electric Fans: Identification and Values Paperback – January 1, 1996

I recently purchased several Emerson and GE table fans built in 1918, 1934, and 1953. Knowing little about vintage fans, and considering restoration, I took them to a highly respected repair man specializing in such fans. His knowledge was unbelievable regarding all aspects of the fans, and I left one for full restoration, one was not cost effective to restore, and one had been restored previously, requiring no work. As I was leaving his shop, he said if I was interested in learning more about vintage fans, their history, technology, features, relative values, etc., this book is his go-to book. Quite a recommendation from a guy with many decades of repair experience, and an obvious love and respect for these superbly designed and made machines.I am just now exploring the book, and it is indeed fascinating! But my review is based primarily on this wonderful repairman's recommendation.

This is a comprehensive volume on many of the hundreds of makes & models from the end of the 19th century to late 20th with enough information to satisfy the collector. It doesn't list all makes or all models of each make so if you have an obscure one or just one that doesn't make the list you will be disappointed. The values can be out of date and the updates may not be available since it was originally published 1997. It is a valuable research tool however.

A Great Older (And Out Of Print) Collectors Reference! Wish There Were Others!

I am satisfied with the information provided in this book however I have some vintage electric fans that are not to be found here. I have better luck just doing a web search. I would certainly purchase this but the nearly $100.00 cost for the newer editions is too expensive, in my opinion.
