Not the easiest to use, but good for touring.
Kinda a PITA to use, but gets the job done when you're on tour with a broken spoke and the nearest shop is 100 km away. It may scratch your frame, but that is fixed by adding a little padding between this device and your frame. If you're lucky you'll never use this tool, but if you have to you will be happy you have it.A tip: Before your tour, try using this tool so you can figure out how it works. So I guess you should use this tool at least once. The only alternative to this is carrying a chain whip and a shop lockring tool up the hills with you.

Great tool for a pack, not a shop
This should not be your primary cassette tool, there are far better ones than this. It is a great pack tool though. Mine weighs 17g, which is respectable. I have a few parts my bikes that use a lockring too now, including the top cap of a OneUp EDC setup.

Tool Too Thin
Teeth on tool are very shallow and barely engage lockring. When force is applied to tab it makes the tool twist and it slips out of engagement. There is a better tool made by JA Stein which is burlier and thicker. Because the increased thickness it will not slip out of engagement when force is applied.

Does not fit standard lockring.
Review is in the title. Teeth are too shallow. Will likely cause damage to your lockring. Caveat emptor.

Add a thick washer
It works well with one caveat. Because many, if not most bike frames will have a bit more space between the wheel and derailuer hanger than the thickness of this tool, you need to add a thick washer as a spacer to keep the tool from popping out of the cassette and rounding the teeth. Mine popped out twice and even though the teeth started to round, it still worked perfectly after adding the washer.

Saves a trip to the shop
This replaces 3 tools required to remove a cassette, which usually requires a cassette lock-ring tool, a chain-whip & an 18" Crescent wrench. This is the only tool necessary. Just put it in the cassette lock ring, put the chain on the cassette & install the wheel back in the frame. This locks the cassette lockring so when you turn the cranks the freewheel turns & unscrews itself from the lockring. It is an inexpensive alternative for home mechanics & is an alternative to the Stein Cassette Remover which costs about three times as much as this. While Amazon lists this as currently unavailable you can get it by going to uniorusaDOTcom/shop-bicycle-tools/pocket-spoke-and-freewheel-remover wrench/

Great if there wasn’t a gap between my MTB XD Cassette and mtb frame
Great product if it worked for my MTB XD cassette. The problem is the metal is too thin on the too which allows it to slip under pressure when you turn the wheel to loosen the cassette. This problem could be solved if there was thicker metal filling in that gap. Also the teeth need to be longer. I don’t see any reason for the teeth on the tool being so shallow, it just makes it slip even more. you could also just add a washer like I’m going to do to tool as an additional item to fix this issue.

Lockring Tool
An excellent tool for removing Shimano cassette lockrings - without the need for a chain-whip and large diameter socket spanner. Invaluable when touring and one has to replace a broken drive-side spoke.
