Overall it does the job. It's not as adaptable to all types of cattle water troughs.

Game changer
I feel like an idiot for not doing this sooner. Live in North Carolina where heat and humidity make molds and algae flourish. We had to dump and scrub the horses tanks every week. When its hot, they empty a tank in a day. It was a daily, sometimes 2 x a day chore just to keep clean water. Put this baby on, with a stock tank tablet, and so far have had a tank FULL of clean water every time I check for 2 weeks. Will see how long it lasts with a curious gelding, but so far so good. Excellent as a matter of fact. 68 year old woman assembled and installed with no problem. Nuf said.

THE BEST AUTO FILL I'VE HAD
I was skeptical upon ordering the Trough-O-Matic since I have been through so many varieties of auto-fills for my pond over 25 years. Honestly, I had ordered another traditional type at the same time and went with that last year. This year I decided to give the Trough-O-Matic a try. I am glad that I did! I have had it working for 3 months already and there have not been any of the tradtional problems like not turning off or on which seem to be the common problems with most of them. Surprisingly, in spite of my initial appraisal this thing has turned out to be sturdy, functional and very easy to install. It is very easy to adjust and that is done by simply loosening the included brakets then sliding the unit up or down. I use an isolated pump area where I installed a 2 x4 that holds the Trough-O-Matic. I am delighted with it after fighting for years with conventional and not so conventional attempts to have a trouble free auto fill and the Trough-O-Matic has been trouble free so far. I would highly recommend this to anyone who has endured the same frustrations that I have over the years. I do not worry about coming home after a short trip now to find a very low pond or one that is overflowing!

Mostly works as advertised, with certain caveats!
Valve works fine, the mounting hardware sucks! Valve functions fine, design not thought out! Can only turn on supply water halfway, any further it shoots out a hole molded in for the mounting hardware, spraying out of water trough! I had to mount it multiple times to get it to work right! I wound up cutting n drilling the mounting brackets, adding a piece of 1" sq tubing as a backup mount, using fender washers n self tapping screws to make the mount rigid enough!

So worth the money!
Keeps my pond filled and we also used in a five gallon bucket for gravity fill of our chicken water cups. Game changer!!!!

Water float for water bowl
This float is a great way to supply water for pigs. As they drink the float releases down to let water fresh water flow into the water bowl. When the pigs are done drinking the float moves up and the water bowl fills with water The float moves up and the water stops flowing in. The bowl remains full. When the pigs drinks the float moves down allowing fresh water to flow in. Great product.

Just ordered my second one...
I've been using my trough-o-matic on one of the cast iron baths I use as cattle troughs for the last 4 weeks and it's worked perfectly. The trough is kept topped up and the cows don't feel the need to throw destructive empty bath tossing tantrums any more. The unit needs a little assembly, just push a split-pin through the housing and float and screw on the brackets. Miller mfg. has easy to follow videos on how to assemble and fit all their Trough-o-matic models on their web site and on youTubeThe unit has a female, 3/4inch threaded BSP water inlet, so if your hose doesn't have a threaded end you may want to buy some kind of adapter. I fitted mine with a Hozelock (2289) Adapter so I can use quick connect hoses. With the expansion brackets and/or a little ingenuity you should be able to fit this to pretty much any container from a bucket to a full sized water storage tank or even an old bath like I have :)Now the caveat.I got my original one through another vendor for a bargain price, I found out why when I got it home and discovered that one of the mounting brackets had a manufacturing defect. No threads to receive the screws. Rather than getting a manufacturer replacement (probably about 3 weeks to ship from the US to the UK) I just took it down to the local garage where it took them about 5 minutes to cut new threads into the bracket for me. I've read countless reviews of the device and never heard of anyone else having that problem, and indeed had no trouble at all with the second one.
