Pokémon X

Due To the notice of Pokémon Bank & Pokémon Transporter for 3DS come Feb. 26, 2027. It will be even harder to have a living Dex in these games. Even with the closure; the story is still fascinating. Though the evil team Leader Lisander doesn’t fully have his story complete in this series until ZA for switch. Knowing that it’s still a good read. The fact that you do you only just ave a run button. But roller skates to move around makes it more balanced. This mechanic was only available in these games for some reason. I wish it was in more of them. My favorite area in this game is still the poke ball factory area. The only difference between X & Y is a few trades, legendary box art Mon, and what Mon are catchable between games. Otherwise it’s the same region, Same story, Same Gameplay. You can still battle and trade locally between players with X, Y, Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire games. It’s still worth a recommendation for being able to have the ability to have every Mon in game, the story is still good, still able to trade & battle locally, and just still being a good time all the way through. You can’t go wrong with this purchase. As this is always fun all the way to the end. And you get the entire game. A Win all around for many different reasons.

I would consider Pokemon X (and even Pokemon Y to similar extents when I get it in the mail) one of the best Pokemon games to play. A departure from the series is the pixel sprites that made the world. Now games are in 3D and have not disappointed me. I enjoy drawing fan art of Pokemon and prior to the advent of this game and its companion, I'd usually have to rely on pictures from the anime and manga, which I am no longer fond of. Now that the Pokedex shows a 3D model when a Pokemon is caught, I can actually draw fanart of Pokemon at different angles beyond front and back. You can actually change your avatar to suit you as your are ask for your gender, your looks and your name. However, the skin color for the darkest skin type for looks is still a dark taupe color. It's still a start and quite a departure from playing what is a essential a white-skinned protagonist. Some items have changed, particularly the plates that are to be attached to Arceus, which include the Pixie Plate which corresponds with the new Fairy element type. The biggest change of all is the Exp. Share, which first started out as Exp. All in the very first games, giving all Pokemon in the party Experience Points, and later Exp. Share, giving a selected Pokemon in that party a share of the points. For this set of games, the Exp. Share has reverted back to the properties of Exp. All. I have very few complaints involving the Lumiose City. Before I bought the game, I was well aware of a glitch that prevents moving around if saved in the North and South Boulevards and the two Avenues from The South Boulevard leading to the Central Plaza. Pokémon's official X & Y Site recommend you save your games in a shop or better yet, in the Pokemon Centers. The Evolutionary stone shop in Lumiose City, to my knowledge, only sells Fire, Water and Leaf Stones, so evolving Eevee and Pikachu would require a debate on your self if you're trying to complete the Pokedex as I only received one Thunderstone. You will encounter Pokemon from all 6 generations, some from the previous 5. Overall, the story did not disappoint. I won't tell you the ending, but the game does leave many characters involved open for debate and fan theories of their beings and pasts. The ending, however, simply doesn't just go to the credits right after beating the Champion, it involves a Pokemon battle with an enigmatic character who is involved with the story's backstory. After that, the cut scene that ties up the loose ends enough to satisfy those who held on long enough and then the credits, which has a song involved from the second part of the credits, subtitled in English and French. The music in the credit reminded me of the song "Hana wa Saku" (Flowers Will Bloom), created by the NHK, Japan's public broadcasting station for the recovery of the Tohoku region. I have been told that Pokemon Y has a darker, more sinister story to its programming. However, I can say that Pokemon X is not that much different from the description for Pokemon Y from my experiences. As for educational aspect: Mathematics are part of figuring out how much damage you deal to your opponent. Logic involving Rock-Paper-Scissors like deduction is involved when in a battle. Life lessons are involved with the story, such as the lengths one would go through to take back what was lost and the cost of the war from a non-monetary aspect. It is a fun game to play. You might even beat my record of entering the Hall of Fame in 3 days after starting a game.

Arrived within it's time-frame in a package much larger than was needed to hold a CD as seems to be the new thing for Amazon these days. I wonder if that is where our Prime dollars are now going? This was the number one request on my 12-year-old daughter's Christmas list this year, so she was over-the-moon when she opened it. From what I can gather, it has lived up to her expectations. She talks about it all the time, going into quite a bit of detail that I do not understand or follow, but it obviously excites her tremendously because she will talk about it for hours, and play it even longer if I allowed her to. The graphics seem to be ... graphicy. There are Pokemon. You play with them. OK, hang on, I will bring in the expert. This is what she has to say. "When you play Red, Blue or Yellow, the graphics are manageable, but when you move up to Pokemon X, the graphics are AMAZING. You can see the Pokemon battle, and you can see the moves that they use. Like, if you use 'dig', you can see them dig down. And if you use 'fly', you can see them fly up. And 'greninja', when it uses my favorite move, water shuriken, you can see it throw the shurikens however many times the move hits, and it can hit up to five times. So you just see the shuriken fly at the opponent and it looks really cool!" About the game she says: "It is a really fun game. You start off in a town where your mom is a famous Rhyhorn raiser and then you find that Professor S. decided to pick you and four other people to become a Pokemon trainer." (Oh, so your Ash!) "So there are three starting Pokemon. There is the Grass Type Chespin. The Fire Type Fenniken. And the Water Type, Frokie." (She chose Frokie). "There is a bad team that you have to defeat." (She can't remember their name, among other people you have to battle.) "One of the coolest parts I think to the game is that you can Mega Evolve Pokemon." (Whatever that means.) "There are tons of different Pokemon that can Mega Evolve. And if you like the final evolution, it will go back to its form after it battles. There are a few like Charizard, Mew, and Venosuar that Mega evolve, so Charizard will Mega Evolve into Charizard X, who is black with blue flames coming out of it's mouth. Mew X - and tons of other ones like Aerodactlye, and the two fossile Pokemon that are exclusive to X and Y that can't Mega Evolve yet, but they are very cool. It was hard for me to decide between them. But in the end I picked Amora. Once you get toward the end, you can catch the legendary Xerans, which I haven't caught yet, but I really want to. I haven't gotten that far yet. In the previous Pokemon games I have played, the gyms are basic and simple. But when I went up to Pokemon X, all the gyms are just SO COOL. My favorite gym so far is the Psychic Type Gym. It's like a big Sphere Maze. You have to locate the gym leader. There are a whole bunch of different trainers that you don't have to battle, but you get so lost you end up having to battle them." That's it for her review. If you have questions, she will be happy to answer them. I'll be happy to pass them along because I know nothing.

First of all I'd like to begin by saying that this game is definitely for all ages, those who are returning for nostalgia and those who have never played this game before. The first thing you see when you play the game is the completely redefined 3D graphics, by redefined i MEAN REDEFINED! it is completely different from what it was in Black 2 and White 2. The game is extremely smooth and the use of directional analog stick really gives a nice feel to the game and overall speeds it up (In my opinion). Talking about speed this generation has vastly improved over it. In previous generations (To me personally) the game felt very slow paced, they have really sped things up with the gameplay this time and in a good way as it still took 30 hours to complete the main story and that was me rushing it. Now here is the part I really enjoy about this game, the online. Yes, the main story of this game is a little short for me, even at 30 hours I feel I should get more out of a 35 dollar game and pokemon delivers. Once you finish the main story not only do you still have more side quests and alot of things to do (Such as the Battle Maison, Customizing your character, Eating at the different restaurants in Lumiose etc). Once you have COMPLETELY done everything and have nothing else to do, then comes the online. The online multiplayer of Pokemon X and Pokemon Y has Double Battles, Triple Battles, Single Battles and Multi-Battles. The online universe is a completely different experience from the single player campaign, online requires a great amount of skill and makes everything even more fun. The new "Player Search System" is an amazing improvement over the previous generations online system and provides alot of new things and systems. The only reason i say this is not as good as Ruby and Sapphire is that it did not bring enough new Pokemon and even though the story was long ENOUGH it was for someone my age (16) too childish. Overall this is an amazing installment and definitely one of the best of the entire series. I currently have around 120 hours on it and am still playing every single day. If you are wondering weather you should buy it right now considering the time that has passed since release, BUY IT! you will not regret it!

Fantastic new graphics for the 3DS? Check. Great new features? Check. Standard excellent Pokemon story-line? Check. Loved by both old and new fans? Check! This is such a fantastic game. As someone who's played Pokemon since Red and Blue, I have high standards for Pokemon games. Black and White did not meet them, but X and Y absolutely did. It was nostalgic while being completely new and redesigned. The new 3D models for the Pokemon in battle are simply awesome. I love the artwork, and I love the amount of detail put in to everything! I personally played most of the game with the 3D turned off, and everything is still stunning. The game mechanics have gotten more complicated, but easier to work with than ever before - I think that's one of the best things about Pokemon: It's simple enough for kids to love, but it has layers of complexity that teens and adults are able to see. To me, the most impressive feature is the online compatibility. It's so easy now to trade with friends around the world - and with strangers! Wonder Trade allows you to send a random Pokemon to trade with a complete stranger, so you never know what you'll get! And the privacy settings keep any trades or battles with strangers private and purely digital. It's a great balance. I bought this game when it first came out, and recently bought a second copy as a gift for a friend, and as soon as she got it, we were able to trade online, even though she lives thousands of miles away. The storyline is standard. Nothing too special or crazy, but really, Pokemon has a formula, and it does best when they stick with it. It's good enough to be engaging, but not too weird or complex as to turn off younger fans. Overall, if you're still debating whether or not these games are worth it: they are. They're beautiful and classically Pokemon. I really have no complaints.

For longtime Pokémon players the series’ debut on the 3DS is like a dream come true. This is in almost every way the Pokémon game my 12 year old self was waiting for. The most important change is that Pokémon are rendered in full 3D models, finally moving away from the series’ traditional sprites. Battles immediately remind me of Pokémon Stadium on the N64 only shrunk to the palm of your hand (not to mention the superior graphics). I had the pleasure of visiting France the Summer before Pokémon X/Y came out so immediately I was able to appreciate the Kalos Region’s design. This new cultural aesthetic really feels like a breath of fresh air. A small, but appealing feature is the ability to customize your character’s in-game appearance through skin color, hair, and clothes. This may seem like no big deal, but ever since I first played Pokémon Blue I’ve wished I could edit the appearance of my sprite. Game Freak has finally brought that feature and we can only hope they give us more choices in future titles. If Pokémon X/Y has one weakness it has to be the story. I know, I know, no one really plays these games for the story, but this game’s antagonists, Team Flair, really are a step down in quality. While the teams have always been Saturday morning cartoon villains at least they threatened the protagonists. Team Flair comes across as a group of incompetents rather than a group dead-set on changing the course of history. The game’s single-player campaign is also ridiculously easy. A beefed up Exp. Share makes level grinding a thing of the past and more often than not you walk into every gym and Team Flair battle with a team that towers over the competition. In short, I understand Game Freak wanting to cut back the hours typically spent on grinding, but if this device is going to become a mainstay in the series they’re going to have to level up the boss battles. Another thing that will bother veteran players is the lack of post-game content. Once you’ve beaten the Kalos Region Pokémon League there really isn’t much to do other than continue filling your Pokédex. Those small problems aside, Pokémon’s leap into the 3DS is a spectacular success sure to entertain old and new fans alike with its 3D recreation of the creatures we know and love. For that it receives my highest recommendation.

As a advid fan of Pokemon I've been playing these games since the original Red and Blue, I've played just about every version on the Gameboy color, the Gamboy Advance, and DS. Now I've finally got Pokemon Y in my hands and what do I think of it? It's a good game. No doubt, I got it today and I've only just barely put it down. Let's take a look at what we're getting with this package. The graphics for this game are the best for any main series Pokemon game, ever. Gone are the flat 2D graphics, these are in fresh new 3D, and it looks fantastic. I love how this game looks, walking around cities, the character models look awesome, and the Pokemon battles are much like battles from Pokemon Stadium, or XD. So great job on that. The formula is, for the most part, unchanged. You're a boy/girl who's been given a shiny new Pokemon, Grass, Fire, or Water, and you're on a quest to catch 'em all. All the while collecting Gym Badges like they're hotcakes. I can't say much about the story as I've only beaten one Gym, and just recently got my second starter, but so far it's looking like the story won't have anything new to offer, which honestly I don't care too much about. I don't expect a heartwrenchingly deep story from Pokemon. Though, I do have a few nitpiks that I am annoyed about. This game feels, compared to older Pokemon games, a bit too easy. I don't really expect Pokemon games to be overly difficult, but I'd at least like some challenge. The first Gym was laughably easy, which could be partially tuned to the fact that I choose the fire starter, and got the Wifi Torchic, and the first gym uses bug type Pokemon, but even so it feels...yeah. And the fact that i was given an Experince Share, technically an Exp All, right after the first gym...yeah. Not sure what you're trying to do Gamefreak, but I would at least like there to be some challenge, even my eight year old self, the age I was when I first picked up Pokemon, wouldn't find this all that hard. At least up the difficulty a little, don't give us Experince Share that early, I don't care if people complain about grinding, that's what you do in a RPG. But other than that. I don't really have many complaints, the game looks great, it's fun, if a bit on the easy side but it's still good. I look forward to beating this game.
