Not like any map I have. But I like it!
It's not like any map of the moon I have. It's different and I like it 🙂

Great book but confusing
Wilkins product a hand drawn detailed map of the moon and congrats to the Royal Observatory Greenwich for its reproduction in book form. The maps orientation is classical north, south reversed. However, it is not really suited for a beginner as it is somewhat confusing, even in locating large craters as many of features are not named. This is not helped by the fact that Wilkins made up some of his own names. The book is taken from the 100-inch map version and is overly cluttered making identification very difficult. This is especially the case between smaller craterlets, craterpits, cratercones & hillocks as the symbols used are to close to each other at this scale. I suspect the 300-inch version that he created would solve many of the issues. That being said it is very detailed and is now a historic map back in print so is well worth purchasing for the keen lunar observer.

interesting but not useful
nice enough bookmaps appear a bit confusing, just too much detail, too many lines, nothing namedsadly the maps are correct horizontally but are flipped upside down verticallyso unless your telescope does that - mine does not - useless for looking at the moon
