I use it on my right hand, however there is a thumb hole on both sides of the brace so it can be worn either on your right or left hand.

Is it machine washable?

No, it is not. The washing instructions are as follows: Remove metal splint from inside of brace and close all fasteners prior to washing. Hand wash with mild soap in warm (not hot) water.
