Can I record audio with the pen? Or is it with the app open only?

Hi there! The Livescribe Aegir smartpen is the company's lightest and slimmest smartpen to-date, and thus it does not have an onboard microphone nor speaker to assist with audio recordings. You can record audio while using the Livescribe Aegir smartpen from the Livescribe+ app on your paired mobile device (iOS or Android).

What are the refill packs for the pen's ink?

Hi there! Aegir smartpens use D1 style ink cartridge. These are the same ink cartridges as the ones used for Livescribe 3 smartpens. More information can be obtained here: https://store.livescribe.com/by-series/aegir/aegir-livescribe-3-ink-refills-blue-medium-point-8-packhtml.

This work with normal paper?

No. You have to use special paper / notebook for this.

Is this compatible with the Amazon Fire?

The pen needs the Livescribe app. There is an Android version of the app available on the Google Play Store. If it isn't in the Amazon app store, then you will have to "sideload" it on your device, which is a little more difficult. The pen will not provide all the features without the app, so this is important.
