Perfect for loud outdoor yard work
I run a woodsplitter for three to four hours at a time and mowing my lawn takes an hour and a half. In the past, would use corded earbuds and place hearing protection earmuffs over them, but what would happen over the duration is the buds work themselves out of your ear, and you have to reset them occasionally. Not a big deal, but it gets annoying. So I set out to find something that combines sound and hearing protection simultaneously, and these are it! I like quality sound when I can get it, but lets face it; anyone reading this knows that the moment you need hearing protection in a loud working environment, you aren't going to get an audiophiles experience in any headphone setup! So to get to the meat and potatoes of this product. You are reading reviews because you want to know if they are the ones to buy. In my opinion, they are! • Hearing protection is adequate. While they don't drown out noise as well as some of the other earmuff hearing protection out there (24db vs 30db only hearing protection, no speakers inside), they reduce outside sound levels adequately even when no music is playing. • Sound quality is very good. These are not made by Bose. Don't expect audiophile quality sound here, but do expect very good sound. I saw sound quality complaints in other reviews. I was like, for the price, I'm gonna judge for myself and if they suck, I'll send it back. I still have them, and I feel the sound quality is very good. Again, these are not Bose or Harmon Kardon, if you want that kind of quality sound, spend the money and sit in your living room and hire someone else do the yard work. • Attainable volume is very good. These offer plenty of volume to drown out any ambient sound that may remain. However, you don't really need to turn these up to full blast. After awhile, your ears get used to and adjust to louder sound levels, making you think you need to turn it up more. Remember this when you are using them for long periods of time. These are designed to offer private entertainment within your loud working environment, and if you are cranking the tunes, you kind of defeat the purpose to protect your hearing. • Comfort is good. One thing I noticed and worth mentioning is the headband that rests upon your head may cause a little discomfort over long periods of use. The pad is kind of open and after long term use can press on your scalp. I have shorter hair, so I noticed this. When working in colder weather with a hat, I didn't notice it. • Battery life per use is good. I have never run out of battery and I have run them for 5 hours. By the end of 5 hours of outdoor yardwork and activity, I am spent, so these basically outlast me when started with a full charge. • Bluetooth connectivity is good. I never had a connection issue with these. I use an iPhone 6 that is attached to my belt with a holder. This device never disconnected. So there you have it. For me, this was a good purchase, and I'm glad I got them. I think you will find that too. They do everything that the task requires. As mentioned, the only small gripe, if any, is the headband comfort over the top of my head. I wanted to review this in a way that was realistic and right to the point, and I hope it helps your decision! Now get back to work! :)

Excellent product, with one notable issue.
First off, I believe this is the first time I've ever felt it necessary to write a review for a product on Amazon, both because of how impressed I am with the item I received, and because I hope others will read my review either before or after purchasing this product and heed my words of caution involving long term use. I work in a construction field that often sees me operating front end loaders, vibratory compactors, backhoes, jackhammers, etc. almost daily. Some of the machines I use can damage your hearing after just a few seconds of exposure, so a high-quality, reliable hearing protection solution is absolutely necessary. I can say without a single doubt that these are more than adequate for the job. I've had people come up behind me in gator side by side utility carts and I haven't even heard them approaching until they've come into my field of view. They block out a huge amount of noise. In terms of the audio side, the battery life I see out of these is likewise incredibly impressive. If I use them around 4 hours a day, I can see about 5 days before they're dead. Connectivity is fast and reliable, and while the single button control limits your ability to change volume or rewind tracks from the headset, it also reduces the complexity of using the headset, and other people generally won't even realize you've got the option of listening to music because there aren't any obvious controls visible besides the single button. You can still pause/play and skip tracks forward with the single button, and that's been perfect for me so far. Sound quality is likewise very high. Normally, I listen to podcasts, not music, and I've yet to encounter a situation where I couldn't hear what I was listening to, even if I was pounding concrete with a vibratory compactor and the hosts were speaking at normal room face-to-face volume. I've only had them for ~3 months, so I can't really speak to long term build quality yet, but they get tossed into the cab of my truck, are covered in dirt, have a handful of scratches already, have been repeatedly exposed to 120F heat for hours on end, and they still work perfectly fine so they seem to be holding up well under light abuse. I expect they're going to last a while so long as I don't treat them too harshly, and if they do break it'll probably be my fault. As you can see, I really like these things, and I would absolutely buy them again in a heartbeat. All of the above said, there is one significant drawback that I believe everyone should be aware of: they do NOT breathe. This should have been obvious to me due to how effective they are at blocking out noise. If you wear these for a while, you'll take them off and notice there is some condensation inside the ear cups. If you wear them for any length of time in the sun, in July, while doing any physical work, you'll realize that your ears are dripping wet with sweat. The problem here is if you expose your ear canals to such a high level of moisture for a long period of time, you're creating a perfect environment for bacteria, and making yourself a prime candidate for ear infection (I.E.: Swimmer's Ear). I'm just coming off an incredibly painful inner ear infection. I'm fairly certain I can attribute it to my wearing these things for a few 85F days at 6-8 hours straight, in direct sunlight, and sweating like crazy. Going forward, my plan is to either remove them every half hour and get the moisture out, or maybe put a few drops of alcohol in my ear canals at the end of each day to evaporate off any moisture. I won't stop using them however, because they just work too good. Long story short: Great product, does exactly "what it says on the tin", just remember to air them out now and then and keep your ears clean and dry. If you work in a loud environment and can't stand staring at your work in silence, you'll love them.

Well worth the money!
Bought the Bluetooth only version. Used this for about two weeks now. I’m working outside on various types of lawn and garden equipment. They really do a great job of filtering out noise (better without eye protection, such as sunglasses or safety glasses) and the audio quality is very good for being earmuffs and not actual headphones. One downfall I’ve noticed is when you are listening to music the more deeper the tones are, the more less likely it is to be picked up. Meaning, if you are listening to a rock song and it’s heavy guitar or drums, the quieter the sound will become. If it’s just vocals or soft instruments, the louder or more clarified the sound will come through. Also, superior battery life. The first week I’ve had them, I used them on average 4-6 hours a day. I still haven’t had to charge them as they haven’t gone dead. The Bluetooth connected almost instantly while pairing with my iPhone X. When you turn on the Worktunes, they connect within about a second. The comfort level is by far the best I’ve ever experienced. I have used several pairs of earmuffs for either shooting or working and these are by far the best! They form to your comfort level and are virtually unnoticeable. As there is only one button on the right muff, the operation is very simple and user friendly. Overall I’m very impressed with this product. I was a little hesitant at the cost of this product but after using it, it’s well worth it. I would strongly recommend this product to anyone who works outdoors with any type of equipment that wants heating protection plus the benefits of listening to music.

I like them (Worktunes Connect, Bluetooth only)
I received them today and a few minutes of testing have left me happy. They seem solidly constructed.Bluetooth pairing is about as easy as it gets. The sound isn't studio quality and shouldn't be expected. They sound a little muddy but tweaking the EQ on my phone brought out some more treble and let's face it, these aren't made for studio quality. They're made to listen to music/radio/books whatever while you have noisy equipment running. On top of that, my ears aren't the best anyhow. I tested them with a conference call via MS Teams and the audio wasn't great through the speakers but it was above acceptable. The microphone makes it sound like I'm talking through a plastic tube (test call was recorded), not to mention there is no sound cancellation so from my end it sounds like I'm speaking through a tube into a speaker phone, with all the ambient noise in the room being picked up. If you're going to use these for making a lot of phone calls I wouldn't necessarily recommend them. Hearing protection is great. I was using shooting ear muffs in my shop and these work a lot better, perhaps it's a frequency thing but these dampen sound far better than the shooting muffs did. And hey, I have music now! A reason I didn't get the model with the AM/FM tuner is there are gobs of free apps out there that stream it and my Atlanta area stations are all on the app I use (myTuner Free at the moment). I saw a lot of complaints about volume level and all i can say is if you're cranking headphones up louder than what these will do then you are damaging your hearing and will regret it later in life...like I do. Regardless, I had music playing at a comfortable level and flipped my planer on since it's one of the noisiest tools I have. I bumped up the music volume a couple taps and I could barely hear the planer. Good stuff! Bluetooth range is fine. I believe the manual says 25 feet, and while listening to music it skipped a couple times - I was disappointed until I realized I left my phone in another room and it was about 21 feet away and through a wall. As a matter of fact, I'm listening to music as I type this and my phone is about 24 feet away and behind a wall where my fuse panel is and it hasn't skipped even once. This gets 4 stars from me because they do exactly what I want and I don't expect studio quality audio, but the microphone definitely sucks. But they were only $45 delivered so I'm not unhappy with them at all. Update 1/18/2020: I've found that the sound quality GREATLY varies from device to device and can understand why some people say they sound like garbage. They sounded OK using my phone until I messed with the sound settings. They sounded HORRIBLE through my work laptop and I had to install an EQ app. If they sound like garbage you need to adjust the EQ on the sound settings of whatever device you have. Battery life was roughly 24 hours until it told me it was low and I've no idea how much longer it could have gone - probably hours. Note: There is no need to "break in" lithium batteries. The first charge is no different than the 100th charge. I still rate them at 4 stars and have no regrets buying them.

Solid, well built passive earmuffs with built in bluetooth for pairing to a phone
The construction is good and solid, and does an excellent job of blocking sound. Note, this is not an "active" noise suppression system...this is effectively just a very well made passive earmuff hearing protection device with the ability to pair via bluetooth to hear music, podcasts, etc from a phone. While it does have a microphone, that mic is so you can have a conversation via your phone while wearing the earmuffs, not for someone wanting to talk to you standing next to you...you'll have to take them off to have an immediate local conversation. So, if used for listening to your phone's MP3's on an airplane for example, this is excellent...fidelity is quite good, and you can save a lot of money over other "noise cancelling" devices. Or, used when mowing the lawn, or other loud activities to preserve your hearing. If you use this while shooting, it will limit your situational awareness, just like regular earmuffs would do. You will not be able to hear people talk clearly around you, for example (again, just like regular 'muffs). And...you could listen to your music on the range, but that will reduce situational awareness even more. I bought this for listening to my phone while on a plane (It's REALLY good for that...you will be surprised at how loud you have to listen through "regular" headsets vs this one), and when using gas operated lawn equipment. Controls are simple and straightforward...one easy to find button on the side. A long press to turn it on or off. A double press for initial pairing. A double press to advance forward a track. Three presses to back up. Just one button. Volume control would be done on the device you are playing through, there are no volume controls on the Worktunes Connect 'muffs themselves. Charging is easy, and an LED indicator will show full charge. The device will also "speak" to you when it is powered on, powered off, paired, and can tell you the basic charge of the battery. There is an aux 1/8" jack if you want to connect to a device via a cable vs bluetooth. The box comes with just the hearing protector, and a microUSB cable. No USB charger is included, you have to supply your own.

I own 3 sets
I own 3 of these muffs. One stopped working after a year. I chalk it up to mass production. You win some, you lose some. I bought 2 more sets and use them for work to receive floor call notifications and to protect my hearing. I’ve read some people complain about the music volume output. I initially thought the same thing and then remembered that 3M makes this product. I honestly believe the max volume level is intentionally designed to prevent damage to your eardrums. They’re plenty loud enough for me at 3/4 volume and I work around multiple running industrial compressors daily. I bought the other 2 sets because I like them. When I get to work I put my iPhone on Bluetooth, put the headphones on and hold the button down. They pair immediately and tell me the battery level. I alternate between the 2 sets weekly to wear out the batteries evenly. I’ve had those sets at work for a little over 2 years and they both still pair and work fine. The distance I get before cutout is approximately 75’ to 100’ with a concrete wall in between. I don’t know if it matters but I’m using an iPhone 11 Pro. I forgot, I bought a 4th pair for my home shop and mowing the lawn, working on the cars etc. They’re comfortable. The only reason I gave 4 stars in some of the aspects listed is because nothings perfect. Just trying to be honest is all. If any of these sets died I would replace them with the same model. They are hard to clean as another reviewer stated but it’s a small inconvenience and the usability far outweighs the issue. If you don’t like them or they don’t work, fail etc. you can always return or exchange them. This is definitely the reason I buy on Amazon and the reason I didn’t return the first set is because I got over a years use out of them and figured it’s par for the course when it comes to electronics. I got my money’s worth out of them. Returning something after a year and the abuse that I’d put them through just didn’t seem right to me. At some point I’ll take them apart to see if they’re repairable. If not, they’re still decent hearing protection.

Enjoy working in these
3+ years using these, and I love working in them. The battery life is outstanding, I can't remeber the last time I charged them. The thick earmuff seals are pretty comfortable, and not bad with glasses on. The big complaint from most people is the sound quality. It's not great sound quality, but for listening to music while working it really doesn't bother me at all. If they made a higher audio quality version I would buy it, but this is the best on the market as far as I can tell.

for those working at home
i investigate noise cancellation headphones, earbuds you name it, they cost hundreds of dollars. then i came across this . its simple, has bluetooth has a mic and best part it "cancels" all most noise. cancellation is a fancy name....this headset is not just handy for construction work but its super awesome for me when i work or study at home and it blocks 99% of all noise(daily life noises)..car kids, renovating neighbours apartment noise etc...a god send. the only thing i will mention though is that it can get a little tight over a few hours of use......try wearing a cap over to adjust...but its cheap and beats all those fancy headphones any day.

Perfect mix of headphones and ear defenders
First off, let's address the elephant in the room - the price. These are VERY expensive considering you can get half decent Bluetooth headphones for about £20 and half decent ear defenders for under a tenner. I actually held off buying these for ages because I was using my half decent headphones under my half decent ear defenders but it was such a faff with the headphones falling out all the time and not particularly comfortable after a while that I finally succumbed and coughed up the dosh. And if you're going to use them often (pretty much every day for me) then these are absolutely worth the investment. I mainly use them to listen to audiobooks and podcasts while using the sander or drill and I have no trouble hearing the audio over either of those tools and it's still passable with much louder tools like circular saws. If you're in a quieter environment, like doing the washing up while the kids argue over the last pack of Doritos, then you can happily tune out all the background noise and listen to your tunes in peace. As long as you're not expecting world class sound quality (and why would you from 3M?) then these headphones are brilliant - battery life lasts hours and hours, range is decent, build quality is spot on so far... The only downside I can see is the price but if you think you'll get your moneys worth then definitely buy a pair
