Great quality tuner. I waited to play at a gig so I could experience it properly, before leaving a review. It worked great, I could see the display perfectly and no tuner stuck on the head of the banjo. Highly recommend.

I purchased this tuner on 15th April 2026 and it cost £20.40p I have found the tuner to be unobtrusive on my 5 string banjo. The tuner is on a swivel, so it can be moved into a position you prefer when tuning and folded down out of the way when you want to play. I noted that some reviewers state that it has a problem recognising the g on the 5th string. Looking at this, I discovered that if you pull the tuner all the way up (see last photo) it has more surface area and therefore will easily recognise the 5th string. When fitting, I did try to slide it under two of the J hooks brackets (under one bracket and then backwards under another) but I was unsure whether the plastic brace that goes under the hooks would break, so I did loosen one hook that allowed more room to slide the 2nd half of the plastic brace/support of the tuner under, and then tightened the hook over it. Look carefully at the measurement of the part that goes under the hooks. Reason being that it fits very well on my Tanglewood Cove Creek 5 string, but whether it will fit on your banjo will depend on the spacing of your J hook brackets. I actually would have bought a 2nd tuner to attach to my Deering Goodtime 5 string, but the spacing of the hook brackets is too far apart for the tuner to be attached. The length of the fixing bracket on the tuner is about 95mm and the centre of the bracket has a notch to rest on a hook bracket, so if your banjo hook brackets are spaced wider that 45mm it will not fit. If you buy it and it doesn’t fit, at least with Amazon you can easily return it for a refund. Glad I bought it and it nicer not to permanently have a clip on tuner on your peghead.

Good though not that easy to use and product seems to struggle with G string on Clareen Special banjo.

Love it, novice banjo player, only one week, bought guitar tuners that clip on, found them crap, tried tuning over internet, that worked, but not very convenient, saw this and thought I would shell out more money on something I had already dismissed as crap for banjo and hey presto!, its fantastic!, easy to use, accurate small and convenient, and in my humble novice opinion sits in the ideal place to tune the banjo actually on the body, and would recommend

I’ve had a banjo for some time and have always had trouble tuning it. I’ve used guitar tuners and tried tuning by ear, but just never got the hang of it…mainly bc I’ve never had it properly tuned to get a feel for what it should sound like. This tuner, however, does a great job. It’s relatively easy to use (takes a bit of fiddling to get in position), and overall it’s money well spent.

These just aren't fit for purpose. The actual tuning unit is no different from the D'Addario guitar headstock tuner, which has the exact same issues. It seems to have serious trouble picking up the vibrations from banjo strings. If anything, this version is even worse, as with the alternative mounting position, it seems to often pick up the resonant frequency of the banjo head over the vibration of the strings! Even in a quiet room, this thing struggles, it's practically useless in the middle of a session or rowdy gig. They can't have possibly tested this on any decent banjo (I tested it on a Gibson RB-3 and a Nechville Zeus, for the record). Avoid, go with a Snark and buy or 3d print yourself a Snark banjo bracket mount.

It would not pick up the b string from the top of the banjo if I put it on the bottom it worked but was to small to see defeated the whole purpose of getting it tried to contact the maker by e mail they did not respond if they don't care about their products why should I I returned it to amazon

Facile à installer, facile à utiliser, discret et précis, il permet presque de faire mentir l'adage pourtant largement vérifié sur les banjos : "la moitié du temps à s'accorder, l'autre moitié du temps à jouer faux !" Je recommande vivement à tous les banjoïstes !

I have 2 of them they are outstanding. The tuner is small yet easy to see and use for the player. However, it is unnoticeable to others and functions very well. The black color makes it difficult for onlookers to see it attached to the banjo when placed on the top part of the rim near the neck heal. I use this product all the time and it works very well for me on both of my banjos. It is a good value for the money. The screen denotes the string that is to be played and is fairly easy to see. Of course, a good quality of the strings on the banjo must be used, in order for the tuner to function properly.

Funktion wie bei anderen Tunern auch. Es lümmelt sich zwischen Spannhaken herum. Es könnte meiner Meinung nach fester sein.
