I bought these for my 5 year old daughter to find when we walk the beach . She lights up everytime she finds one.

I wanted the 6 shells, it said was in pic.However, you only get 5.Pretty shells.Using for Air plants.

We searched forever for large shells. Our hermit crab, Pinchy, moved in right away and loves it!

As soon as I put them in the tank with my hermit crabs, they started shell shopping. One changed shells within an hour, and the other two upgraded within a couple days.

All of them were on the smaller end of the spectrum. Most shell distributors on Amazon lie about the size.

This is a FIVE piece set of extra large Hermit Crab shells ... and natural sea conch shells. Despite the main picture in this listing annoyingly and inaccurately showing SIX shells, this set includes only FIVE shells. I like the shells, I just wish the Seller would stop trying to show this product as something different ... and "more" than what it actually is. 4 stars for deceptive pictures.I have something of a "sea creature" themed bathroom, and these fit right in. From what I read from other reviewers, I guess you actually could use these shells to provide a new "house" for your Hermit Crabs, but I just use them for decoration. They appear to me to be "real" shells, and look good in my bathroom.

I’ll admit now that I was interested in this set of shells for decorative purposes; I don’t own a hermit crab.These are all natural shells and I do not get the impression they’ve been coated with anything unnatural. However, I was pretty disappointed when I opened the box because the color was so muted on all of them, especially compared to the look of the shells in the main photo. I can see there is a photo at the end of the slideshow that claims these muted colors are “rare” but I am skeptical about this claim. The faded coloring doesn’t conjure a sense of rarity to me; they just look worn down and sad. I know my intention with the set will differ because I’m not looking for a new home for a pet, but I’d certainly be more interested in aesthetically pleasing shells if I were to bring a hermit crab into my life.In addition to the faded look of the colors, some of them have obvious cracks running over the entire surface and even missing top layers running along the cracked lines, or worn spots on their points. Another has a dark spot on the top, and more spots inside. I don’t mind this when I find shells on the beach but I expect shells for purchase to be in top shape.My fingers were covered in some kind of fine powder after handling them, and my hands felt dry and gritty. I rinsed them under hot water, both to get rid of the powder and to see if the colors would brighten up (though obviously a rinse isn’t going to repair the look of a cracked shell). Obviously the colors deepened a little while they were wet, but once they dried they looked just as faded as before.I understand the size of the opening is important to ensure the hermit crab can get a proper fit. I was a little surprised at the variety of openings; one was clearly much bigger than the others. My research suggests you want a few of varying size so the crab can choose its preference so perhaps this is the reason for the range. The measurements provided here don’t seem to account for the usable space for the hermit crab so the numbers provided may not give an accurate view of what is needed (especially with the conch shells. To give some frame of reference, these are the opening measurements I got from each shell I received, based on diagrams I found online to measure the usable area (using the names from the images provided for the product):Pupura luteostoma: 2.25” (claim: 2.2-2.62”)Cominella nassoides: 1.75” (claim: 1.8-2.1”)Striped fox conch: 1.75” (claim: 2.33-2.8”)Muffin land snail shell: 1.5” (claim: 1.6-1.8”)Brown fox shell: 1.625” (claim: 1.95-2.2”)In other words, only one shell’s opening was within the range claimed by the imagery when the usable opening is measured, and one was smaller than the minimum 1.6” from the title.I’ll probably end up using them to decorate some potted plants since I won’t feel bad about setting them in soil. But I can’t confidently recommend these to people based on the condition of the shells I received, and it seems inconvenient to hermit crab owners that the openings aren’t measured in a way that is actually useful for their needs.

The packaging was wonderful and nothing damaged. They are very pretty.We purchased these for our Hermit Crab. There was only one shell in the lot large enough for a 2 inch opening. And of course our big boy didn’t like it.

One of them was pretty small, but the others seem ok. My crab played with about three of them before changing his pants! ( I have only had him a few days so this is the first time he has changed shells)EDIT* they changed back into their old pants and have decided thats where they intend to stay..will try sea salt water soak for the shells and report back

Arrived broken, probably was broken before shipping, just shipped that way. Very expensive for what it is and shipping broken is just bad... Hopefully seller is going to replace one or compensate
